ABOUT

My name is Celine-Joy (Celine), a Hong Kong-born Filipina who grew up in New England. I am an interdisciplinary creative who bridges science and broader audiences through visual design, digital media, illustration, and storytelling. With a Bachelor’s in Biology from Suffolk University and experience as a scientist at the Broad Institute of MIT & Harvard, I draw inspiration from my academic and professional background in the life sciences and healthcare. In 2024, I earned my Master’s in Knowledge Visualization from Zürich University of the Arts, where I focused my research on improving patient communication through digital media, human-centered design, and scientific illustration.

As a science communicator, my goal is to promote science literacy, inspire curiosity, and advance scientific research and its applications. I have experience working across several roles as a freelancer, in-house designer, and volunteer for life science startups, science communications agencies, and educational organizations. Most recently serving as Creative Director for MIT Science Policy Review.

Currently, I am pursuing my MSc in Medical Visualisation and Human Anatomy at the Glasgow School of Art’s School of Innovation and Technology and the University of Glasgow, specializing in the application of medical visualisation in digital media for healthcare and educational purposes.

Outside STEM, I enjoy the aesthetics of art and create works that explore themes of nature, humanity, and the world around us.
